Eibhlin Ui Cathain

This is my friend Eileen Gleeson (in the middle). We studied music together in UCC many years ago. In about 1975 he went to the very end of the Dingle Peninsula, to a place called Dun Chaoin for a summer holiday. SHe met and married a local ficherman, Tomas O Cathain. They had a baby girl whom they called Neili (Nelly). Tragically, Tomas was drowned in the bay between Dun Chaoin and the Blasket Islands three months ater Neili was born in 1976. Tomas' body was never found. Eileen and Neili continued to live in Dun Chaoin while Neili was in school. Neili eventually moved to Dublin to studt photography and Eileen moved to live in Killarney. This weekend, on June 9th, Nrili was married to an Indian man in Dun Chaoin. We were invited to the wedding ....
