Dingle Bay

On the way home we stopped for lunch in Dingle. This is a new memorial to Charlie Haughey, former Taoiseach (prime minister) of Ireland who owned an island in the bay (Inis Mhicilaun - one of the Blasket Islands) and who supported the fishing industry in Dingle.

Kruger's Bar

'Kruger' Cavanagh was a local poet, story teller and general 'great character' in Dun Chaoin. His public bar was a meeting place for all visitors. Regretfully, the bar was closed this wekend.

During the years past I often met Eileen in this bar.

A kerryman told us that these cliffs are 400 million and 7 years old. He knows that for sure because 7 years ago an archaeologist told him that the rocks were 400 milion years old!
